Cheryl

Fortitude 1717 Coach

Hi, I’m Cheryl, and I’m thrilled to be part of the coaching team at Fortitude1717! With a lifelong passion for movement and fitness, I earned my CF-L1 certification to share my love for CrossFit and functional fitness and to help others reach their full potential.

For years after college, I struggled to find a fitness program I could stick with. I tried running, kickboxing, working out on my own at commercial gyms, spin, yoga—and even, embarrassingly, Zumba (just once!). Nothing clicked until several years ago, when a friend dragged me, very unwillingly, to try a CrossFit class right here at this very gym. From that first class, I was hooked.

CrossFit inspired me to let go of some significantly unhealthy habits I had developed and adopt a lifestyle centered on health, fitness, and self-improvement. It’s no exaggeration to say that finding the right community has changed my life for the better, and I’m so excited to now give back as a coach.

Growing up, I played all kinds of team sports, especially field hockey, where I was captain of my varsity team. As an equestrian from a young age, I was floored at how much CrossFit improved my strength, balance, and stamina in the saddle. Outside the gym, I love paddleboarding, hiking, and biking—always with my dog, Nala, by my side.

My extensive work travel has allowed me to train at gyms across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, exposing me to top-level athletes and a variety of coaching styles and approaches. I’m excited to bring that perspective to the athletes here at Fortitude1717, helping them build strength, confidence, and resilience both in and out of the gym. Let’s crush some goals together!
